Sunday – farewell, camp!

Sunday – farewell, camp!

Eventually, the last day the camp has come.
The week has passed quickly and left us with a lot of memories.

Our day started with morning exercises, per usual, and continued with breakfast and assembly. Today’s goal was to remember the old dance and perform it at the closing ceremony of the camp.

However, before that we went to lessons, where our progress was evaluated. Afterwards we went to lunch.
Today we had a masterclass of “Tie Dye”, where each of us made their own T-shirt with a unique print. The children managed to astonish everyone with the power of their imagination, each T-shirt showcased its owners’ understanding of beauty and art.

After that, we went to the closing ceremony of the British Club camp, where we received two certificates for passing the training and for mastering the topic of the camp: “Multiple Intelligence”.

Our team leaders and mentors prepared a video-compilation of the most fun and memorable moments of the camp for us and showed us the dance performance.

At the end of this event, we went to another: the general closing ceremony of the camp.
There was a surprise waiting for us from our dormitory supervisor, who also prepared a chronicle of the entire camp for us. It was really heartwarming.
We also performed our own dance. Our day ended with a farewell disco, everyone was eager to participate, to have fun with their best friends from the camp.
We want to express our deep gratitude to the teachers, mentors and team leaders for this informative, amusing and memorable week.

Saturday – the music day!

Saturday – the music day!

Today’s theme was music.
As always, we started our day with morning exercises. Our trainer today was one of the elder girls, Yana. At the assembly we received the task for the evening and after that everyone proceeded to lessons. Some of the children had consultations for the international English exams.

Also, a professional photographer came to the camp and we were photographed outside.

After that we got some sleep and were charged with energy for the upcoming events. Rested, we went to participate in the Just Dance session.
It was a little bit challenging, but at the same time everyone was excited by the dancing.

Next, all of the groups went to the battle of choirs, where everyone presented their performances and showed the singing skills.

After that we went to dinner and immediately after visited karaoke.

Everyone was so happy to be able to sing together with their friends!
The finish of the day was a disco, which left everyone pleasantly tired and in high spirits. The day was packed with action.

Alex once again participated in the evening “Candle” ceremony, where we expressed all our emotions of the day.

Tomorrow is the last day in the camp. And so everyone hopes it will go well while going to sleep.

Friday – outdoor activities.

Friday – outdoor activities.

The topic of this day was sports, so morning exercises on Friday lasted a little bit longer than usual. This helped us to warm up and prepare ourselves for the activities that were ahead of us.

After breakfast, we went hiking in the forest. It was a really pleasant time! We had a lot of fun and saw many beautiful places. Many of us played in the snow or built a snowman.

After having spent this time outside with fresh air, we returned to the camp and began to study, getting some rest from the hike and exercising our brains instead.

After sleeping for a bit in the afternoon, we met our instructor Yuri, who was responsible for today’s outside activity: He prepared a special quest for us, called “Зарница”.

We were given maps of the camp area, got paired up and started the journey. There were checkpoints where we had to solve riddles and other questions to continue onto the right path. Some checkpoints required doing physical exercises to proceed, there were a couple we simply had to find, based on the location on the map, which was not an easy task. And there even was one where we had to recite a poem or sing a song in English.

It took quite a bit of time and effort to pass all the checkpoints, but everybody finished the quest successfully.

After a short rest, we arranged a small disco at our home and danced for a while. We chose the music ourselves, talked to each other and spent some time with our roommates.
We had a lot of fun and everybody went to bed, pleasantly tired.

Thursday – halfway through!

Thursday – halfway through!

The 3rd day of our stay in the camp has passed. Today was a dance day, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves and start the story from the beginning.
In the morning we did exercises, which were held in the street.

It woke everyone up and lifted the mood, and with that we went to breakfast, which was wonderful, as always.

As soon as it finished, we went to study, to get new knowledge.

While one group was studying, the other one was playing volleyball and football in the fresh air. Then the groups switched places.

The middle of the day began with everyone’s favorite lunch, which charged us with energy.

It was really useful at the hip hop masterclass held by Sergey Rytov from Dance People.

The lesson was really energizing, but challenging at the same time. We went to sleep afterwards to replenish our strength for the evening dance competition.

After a sound sleep, the children started preparing their projects for the day. Each group diligently prepared their own performance and excitedly showed it on the stage after that.
Our dancers showed energetic, passionate performances, each one having its own theme.

We summed up the results of the day at a Candle Meeting with Alex. He told about his day and asked everyone to share their experiences of the day with him.
Even right before the sleep the students practiced their English skills.

Wednesday – the fun continues.

Wednesday – the fun continues.

This day was even more packed with action than the previous one. It began with the morning exercises in the street. After that, we went to the assembly, where we received the task for the day. The theme of the projects was “Emotional drama”.

Today was the first day with lessons. Students were given workbooks and assigned to classes with highly qualified teachers.

The psychologist of the British Club held a masterclass dedicated to the topic of the day – Acting. The children expressed a lot of joyful emotions, and they were able to reveal their talent in acting.

Here’s an interview with Marina N. Rakhmanina, the drama teacher who held the masterclass:

Q: How can you open up unemotional kids?

A: First off, you should find a “key” to the children.
That means that even though the child is reserved in the beginning, you should get on the same ground with them and then make them open up little by little.
One of the main problems of modern society is refusing to show emotions.

Q: Why is it important to be able to show emotions?

A: If a person can show emotions, they better communicate with others and also they are easier to be understood by others.

Q: What kinds of emotions are important for kids?

A: All of them are important. Even if those are negative ones. It is crucial for children not to suppress them.

Q: How to deal with hysterical fits?

A: It is only natural for children to get hysteric, they are learning to control their emotions. A parent should not reply to the outbursts in the same manner, they should learn to understand kid’s emotions.
Of course, it comes with experience, but it is really important for a healthy parent-child relationship.

After completing the masterclass, the children started preparing their own projects to be presented later on in the evening, as well as playing board games in the breaks.

Of course, after a delicious lunch.

Also, our groups took part in the general camp event, where they presented their team and performed a dance.

Finally, it was time for the main event of the day: Projects. Five teams presented a comedy story in the form of a skit.

Team 1: Turned into reality an anecdote about a snail.
Team 2: Performed the production of A.P.Chekhov’s “Chameleon”.
Team 3: Played a scene from the famous Russian tale “Teremok”. Which didn’t involve animals, as in the original fairy tale, but rather the famous musicians.
Team 4: Presented the work “Cinderella” in a modern form.
Team 5: They showed a school anecdote about the choice of a teacher and a student “If you had a kilogram of gold and a kilogram of mind, what would you choose?”

An exciting day finished with an “Evening light” event, where everyone shared their impressions of the day.

Tuesday – our first day at the camp

Tuesday – our first day at the camp

The first day of the camp went very well. It all started with a trip along the picturesque Bashkir road. The snow had already melted on the tops of the mountains and it was quite warm.
And so when we arrived at the camp, we were greeted by warm spring weather. In the beginning, we went to the meeting with Irina Nikolaevna and our foreign friend Alex.

They divided us into 5 groups randomly and we were given a very fascinating task: preparing the introductory perfomance for the evening.

In the afternoon we had a masterclass with Elena A. Simonova: Teambuilding

We took an interview after the lesson:

Q: What is your profession?

A: Educational psychologist

Q: Why did you decide to become a teacher?

A: I initially decided to become a psychologist, but Magnitogorsk University (MAGU) did not have a specialty of psychology, only a teacher-psychologist.

Q: How many years have you been working?

A: I’ve been working for 22 years already.

Q: What age group do you work with?

A: Most often from 0 to 18, but I also work with adults.

Q: How do the tasks we completed help in team building?

A: First, everyone has to communicate. The child wouldn’t speak the language, but in the classroom he has to communicate in it. Secondly, the special tasks distract kids from the devices.

Everyone got together as a team and in a few hours we were already able to present our performances.

All of which were unique in their own way, each student was able to show his talent. The teams came up with a name and motto.

The first team, named “Constellation”, performed a dance to the legendary song of 2016, “La la la”.
The second one, “Sakura” brought to life one of Japanese legends, which depicted the story of the spring sakura tree.
The team three was called “Colored flowers”. They told us about their team and performed the dance to the song “Colors”.
The fourth team, “Resurrection of spring”, presented a fairy tale about a cold and terrible winter, and a warm and beautiful spring. Then they showed us the spring dance.
The team number five, “Hearts of lights”, showed a performance, in which the main character woke up from winter slumber.
The act had a spectacular finish.

Before going to bed we had a nice disco which helped to make the end of the day perfect.
